Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon
Opened in June 2007, Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon is the only affordable assisted lifestyle community in Jefferson County, Illinois.
The community was developed by BMA Properties, Ltd., a company founded by Blair Minton, a native of McLeansboro and former resident of Mt. Vernon. The community is owned by BMA Properties and Hunt and Bill Bonan of Peoples National Bank and Market Street Banc Shares.
Designed for adults 65 and older of all incomes who need some help to maintain their independence, the community is conveniently located immediately south of the King City Professional Plaza.
The Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon community houses 66 private studio and one-bedroom apartments, each with its own kitchenette, private bathroom with shower, and emergency response system. Community areas include a spacious dining room, private dining room, beauty/barber shop, exercise room, convenience store, outdoor patio with gazebo, and areas for activities, crafts and recreation.
Three meals a day plus snacks; housekeeping and laundry services; health monitoring and nursing assessments; and assistance with medications and activities of daily living are among the services included in the surprisingly affordable monthly fee.
Certified nurses assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide the assistance needed by residents. They work under the direction of the community’s licensed nursing staff.
With Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon being fully certified by the State of Illinois as a Supportive Living Facility, a financial assistance program is available for those who do not have the financial resources to afford the monthly fee.
