Prairie Living at Chautauqua

Located just west of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Prairie Living of Chautauqua is an affordable assisted lifestyle community that houses 75 apartments. The community, which features a very attractive Frank Lloyd Wright prairie-style design, serves as a wonderful alternative to struggling alone at home or moving to a nursing home for adults 65 and older who need some help to maintain their independence.
Of special benefit is the community’s ability to serve older adults of all incomes, especially low to moderate income seniors.
Each of the studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans at Prairie Living features its own kitchenette, private bathroom with shower, and emergency response system. Community areas include a spacious dining room, private dining room, beauty/barber shop, chapel, activity areas and library. The library is dedicated to the memory of Senator Paul Simon.
Three meals a day plus snacks; housekeeping and laundry services; health monitoring and nursing assessments; and assistance with medications and activities of daily living are among the services included in the surprisingly affordable monthly fee.
Certified nurses assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide the assistance needed by residents. They work under the direction of the community’s licensed nursing staff.
With Prairie Living at Chautauqua being fully certified by the State of Illinois as a Supportive Living Facility, a financial assistance program is available for those who do not have the financial resources to afford the monthly fee.
