The neighborhood of duplex homes offers the opportunity for adults 55 or better to enjoy all of the benefits of home ownership plus so much more – no more steps, no more cutting the grass, no more raking the leaves, and no more shoveling the snow.
A variety of two-bedroom and two-bedroom with den floor plans are available, each with two full bathrooms, nine-foot ceilings, crown molding in the living and dining areas, levered door handles, and fully-finished two-car garages. Each of the floor plans are open and airy, and the neighborhood design provides residents with the opportunity to enjoy rewarding relationships and share common life experiences with neighbors.
Residents of the homes also benefit from having priority access to the affordable assisted lifestyle community located on-site, should the need arise. In addition, they can take advantage of meals, housekeeping, laundry and wellness services available through the affordable assisted lifestyle community, participate in activities and special events, and use the facility’s community areas.
Prairie Winds Affordable Assisted Lifestyle Community
The Prairie Winds of Urbana affordable assisted lifestyle community serves as a wonderful alternative to struggling alone at home or living in a nursing home for adults 65 or older who need some help to maintain their independence. Residents enjoy apartment home living with the added benefit of support services and personal assistance being available.
In operation since May of 2007, the Prairie Winds affordable assisted lifestyle community houses 92 studio and one-bedroom apartments, with each apartment featuring its own kitchenette, private bathroom with shower, and emergency response system. Community areas include a spacious dining room, private dining room, exercise room, outdoor patio, and areas for activities, crafts and recreation.
Three meals a day plus snacks; housekeeping and laundry services; health monitoring and nursing assessments; and assistance with medications and activities of daily living are among the services included in the surprisingly affordable monthly fee.
Certified nurses assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide the assistance needed by residents. They work under the direction of the community’s licensed nursing staff.
With the Prairie Winds of Urbana affordable assisted lifestyle community being fully certified by the State of Illinois as a Supportive Living Facility, a financial assistance program is available for those who do not have the financial resources to afford the monthly fee.
