Be Grateful

Gratefulness is Brian’s perspective about living here at Deer Path.  After being born and raised in Chicago and then moving to Huntley, Brian says he feels safer and secure.  He is thankful to the staff for the care he receives, as well.  Brian was an electrician and worked with the Electrician Union 197 before coming to Deer Path.  Anything electrical is interesting to Brian.  Brian arrived at Deer Path in his 2011 Dodge Challenger SE-he is super proud of his car. He likes to get out and explore Huntley.  When he is not driving around, he is socializing with other residents.  He likes to greet visitors and new residents too.

Be Kind All The Time

Kindness truly matters to Nora and is evident in how she treats other residents and staff at Deer Path.  Nora tries her best to help new residents by answering questions, as well as advocating for them.  After living in LaGrange, Illinois, raising two daughters, and working numerous jobs (retail, UPS, Brookfield Zoo, McDonalds) she came to Deer Path with one goal in mind.  Nora is a student at National Louis University working on her B.A. in Education.  When not attending activities, Nora is busy with her online course work.  She enjoys life here at Deer Path.  “Nurse Haley is very knowledgeable and answers many questions. Diane and Simone (CNAs’) are very helpful.  All the staff make Deer Path a peaceful place to live.”

Honesty is the Best Policy

Upon moving in October of 2023, Sharon immediately joined as many activities as she could. She enjoys staying busy, as well as helping others if needed in activities.  Honesty is Sharon’s description of herself-being honest with others in a kind way and always following the rules will make Deer Path a great place to live.  After being born and raised in Berwin, Illinois, Sharon worked as a CNA in a skilled nursing facility.  She also lived in a skilled nursing facility in North Aurora before moving to Deer Path.  She says the freedom and independence here makes Deer Path a better place for her.

Compassion for Others

Compassion for other residents at Deer Path of Huntley is a great description of resident, Jim. Jim says displaying compassion and empathy for others helps him keep things in perspective every day.  He also believes you need to live one day at a time and you will be much happier.  Jim was born in Evanston, Illinois, in 1960.  In his later life, he worked at ATT as a Service Order Writer and enjoyed his profession.  Coming to Deer Path was the best move for him after dealing with depression.  His doctor said Deer Path would be a great fit for him.  Jim agrees!  He says everything from the staff to the residents is just wonderful.

Best of Our Abilities Winner (2021):

Arthur has taken on several leadership roles within our community and is always willing to help when needed.  He began by organizing and running weekly sessions of Dungeons & Dragons which brought together residents with common interests.  He was elected by our residents to be part of the community resident council.  He has proven to be someone other residents respect and go to with questions and for guidance which makes him an excellent role model.
