Heritage Woods serves adults 65 and older who need some help to maintain their independence

A financial assistance program is available to those who qualify, making the Heritage Woods lifestyle affordable to all. If you or a loved one would benefit from our assisted lifestyle community, but are concerned about financial arrangements, please do not hesitate to ask our staff about this financial assistance program.

The Supportive Living Program is available in Illinois for seniors 65 or older who need help maintaining their independence regardless of their financial resources. Seniors on Medicaid who only receive minimum Social Security income can qualify.

An Affordable Community

Heritage Woods of CENTRALIA is especially designed to serve the older adult and is one of the most sought-after communities.

The community is conveniently located on the south side of Hwy. 161, east of Airport Rd., in Centralia, Illinois.

The home of Kaskaskia College, Centralia is located in the far southwestern portion of Marion County, 10 miles north of I-64 and 10 miles west of I-57, with portions of the City located in Clinton County.

The emphasis at our community is on helping each resident maintain their health, wellness, dignity and independence.

Heritage Woods of Centralia was presented with the 2017 Making a Difference Award by Gardant after receiving excellent satisfaction scores on the annual resident satisfaction survey. Residents at Heritage Woods overwhelmingly said they would recommend our community to family and friends.

A wonderful alternative

Heritage Woods provides a wonderful residential alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home.

At Heritage Woods, residents:

  • Live in the privacy of his/her own apartment, which has been conveniently designed for senior living.
  • Receive personal assistance and help with medications. Certified staff are on duty 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Support services, such as three daily meals, housekeeping and laundry, are also included.
  • Enjoy the companionship of friends and neighbors and participate in social and recreational activities.

A full array of amenities and helpful services will make your days fulfilled and comfortable for you and your family.

Senior Living Apartments

The Senior Living Apartments at Heritage Woods of Centralia combine the comforts of apartment-home living with a variety of features and amenities designed for the convenience of older adults. Each of the spacious private one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans feature a full kitchen.

The apartments are available through a rental program. No entrance or community fee is required. The main meal each day, utilities, housekeeping and flat linen laundry services are included in the reasonable monthly fee. A variety of community areas are available for the enjoyment of residents and their families.

Villas at Heritage Woods

The Villas at Heritage Woods of Centralia is a neighborhood of duplex homes designed for low income older adults who are at least 55 years of age.

Each of the one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans offers single-level living, so there are no stairs. The homes include 36” doorways and levered door handles instead of door knobs. The full kitchen includes an electric range with easy-to-read front-mounted controls.

Maintenance, landscaping and snow removal services are included. A community center and gardening areas are available for residents to enjoy.

In addition, residents of the Villas have priority access to the Affordable Assisted Lifestyle Community located on the campus, should the need arise.

Villas residents are welcome to participate in the social, recreational, and educational activities available for residents of the senior living and assisted lifestyle apartments. For an additional charge, they can take advantage of meal and beauty/barber services.

Betty’s Story: Thankful to Call Heritage Woods Her Home
Betty lived at her home in Centralia along with her daughter and two grandchildren. They all lived very busy and happy lives for years, while enjoying traveling and vacationing together. Soon later, her daughter got married, and they all moved out into their own homes. After years of being together, Betty was alone in her four-bedroom home.

During this time, Heritage Woods of Centralia had just opened its doors. Betty said, “I had been at Heritage Woods at their first opening in March. I liked the thought of it being my new home”.

Gerald & Kathy: Building New Friendships
Years ago, when Gerald and Kathy moved into an Independent Living Community, known as the Villas at Heritage Woods, they knew they found a place that felt like home. They really enjoyed living at the Villas and liked going to the clubhouse for bingo and other monthly events.

They lived in the Villas for 3 years and started thinking about transferring to the Supportive Living Community because they were concerned about growing older. The couple discussed these concerns with their children and decided it was time to make the big move.

Polly’s Story: The Chance of a Lifetime
Polly, a retired school teacher, received a letter from one of her former students last year that sent her on a quest to scratch off one of her bucket list items: getting the best possible view of the 2017 total solar eclipse. The student told her that if she had a chance to travel to Carbondale, she should. She would be witnessing something that only happens once in a lifetime.

At this point, Polly was determined to see the eclipse. She shared her letter with staff and residents because she knew Heritage Woods of Centralia would make her dream come true.

Zed’s Story: A Friend in Need
Zed is one of the most outgoing residents at Heritage Woods of Centralia. He has never met a stranger.

Looking at Zed, you would never know that his wife was sick. The stress of her worsening health in a nearby nursing home began to wear on him. He isn’t the type of man who wants to burden anyone with his troubles.
