BMA President Elected Head of Affordable Coalition Date Posted : 07/17/2009 Rod Burkett, President of BMA Management, has been elected President of the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition.Based in Springfield, Illinois, the Coalition aims to advance the Illinois Supportive Living Program as the premier model of affordable assisted living in the country.Burkett previously served as Vice President of the non-profit organization, which was founded in 2003 and is made up of individuals and entities that develop and operate supportive living communities and their business partners. He has served as President of BMA Management since its founding in 1999.The first supportive living community opened for occupancy in 1999. Today, there are 115 supportive living communities, housing more than 9,150 apartments, in operation throughout the state.The program serves adults 65 and older of all incomes who need some help to maintain their independence but do not require nursing home care, especially those who cannot afford private pay assisted living.During the fiscal year the ended on June 30, 2009, an estimated 6,000 individuals on Medicaid benefited from the program.
